Once Upon a Crime (meaning)

by Greg Ochab

I wrote this song in Summer of 2007 for the girl that I marry. There is no specific girl that this applies to as of yet, and I had no girl in mind at the time. It was a song to remind me what I want, so that I don't chase after dumb girls.

At the time, I had been realizing that the closet romantic mindset I had was nothing but a fairytale lie; life with someone you love is hard. "The Princess Bride" had it all wrong. There is no perfect romance. In reality romance and love are both really hard. They are something to fight for, because no matter how beautiful a girl is, or how strong a boy is, no matter how hard try we are still just imperfect people.

So all we can say is "Let's take this city down together now," and take each other with all our crimes, and never let go.
